400 years ago a Captain and his crew embarked on a quest to trade between in South America and England, he loaded his ship up with a variety of goods that ranged from salt and spices to gold and silk. He and his crew sailed for many months with far too many difficulties, one day dark clouds were all that the eye could see as you looked across the sky, a large storm came and left the captain unconscious in the cabins and claimed his entire crew as its victims who were washed over-board, much to his dismay, he was the one and only survivor. The captain, with the help of an old fashioned bottle, was able to contact us, a little late I might add but still, and has given us many clues that have helped us come to this conclusion.
We think the island is the Galapagos islands, why?...

The geographer in our group has come up with evidence which helps support our theory that the man had been stranded in this very island .
This island is directed inside the ring of fire which means this is a volcanic hotspot.
I was assigned the zoologist of my group and during my research I found that the majurity of the islands that were given to us had very large possibilty that the shipwreck is located there, where as all but one were missing very vital clues and information given to us by the captain of the lost ship. Here are some of the things I found. -As I continued to re-read the paragraph dedicated to describe the animals, I saw a sentence that read, "A large animal with a hard back crossed my path on the beach this morning." and it occured to me that it could only be one thing, a tortoise, who are big in size, live on land and are able to tuck their heads into their shells which could most likely be the 'hard back' described on this animal, turtles are small and light however, live on land and only come to land to lay their eggsthen, quickly make their way back to the water, most species can't even put their heads back into their shells because their shells are too small and Galapagos is home to many tortoises.
-The letter also contained other information about other animals, because he lived far away, it is understandable that he was not able to specifically identify various types or breeds of animals, but here in this sentence "I also saw something that looked like a snake, but it had legs and spikes on its back! I wonder what kind of animal that could be? It walked quickly through the trees when I approached. I am afraid it will crawl on me while I sleep!" He does his very best to describe his encounter with a a snake-like creature which matches a description of an iguana, which Galapagos is infested with. -He also wrote a sentence about birds which helped me narrow it down to Galapagos,"There are many animals around here, especially birds. Some enjoy wading in the water, but others prefer to fly and stay in the trees." This not only means there are birds that fly, but their are birds who just swim around and wade and there are a large variety of birds, Aruba and Ascension contained birds, but not ones that swim, where as Galapagos does, many of them, proof of their many human encounters can be found all over google images, our main source of information.
I was not the assigned Meterologist but I had no choice but to take up this job, anyway, during my research I discovered many things and facts about Galapagos and they helped me to come to the conclusion that Galapagos is the island where the shipwreck is located. -As I read the captains letter, I found a sentence that said “The warm weather leads me to believe it is approximately seventy degrees...”, because this was in the olden days, we have used fahrenheit instead of celcius because they did not have the metric system, and the temperature doesn’t rise anymore than 26C, thats 80F, because the rainy season was ending, it would have been around this temperature and there is avery cool temperature of 55F-75F. -They continued part of the sentence is “-This could be because the steady rains keep it from getting too hot.” This means that the island the shipwreck island has to have cold climate during the month of march going into a warmer climate because of the steady rains. The Galapagos rainy season lasts from January to April, because it was steady rains, the rainy season was ending. Also during this time Galapagos has decreased winds and warmer sea currents and a very cool temperature of 55F-75F.
I am the botanist in my group thats the most important job in my group (well i think so) i study flowers, plants trees basically anything to do with nature and in my research i have found out that most of these islands have features of the nature life that the lost captain has wrote about in his note from the bottle. So i started to dig deeper into the matter and this is what i came up with.
* First i read the captains note and noticed that he had written "There are bushy plants that grow low to the ground" and although all the islands were covered in the most beautiful plants with the help of the geographer we had to cut shetland island and prince edward island due to the location of both of them.
